The mission of the Metropolitan Police Department, City of St. Louis is to protect, serve and assist citizens when conditions arise that may affect the well-being of the individual or the community. Cooperating with others in the community, officers will work to prevent and detect crime, protect life and property, and achieve a peaceful society, free from the fear of crime and disorder. Members of the Department will strive continually for excellence and maintain the peace through service, integrity, leadership and fair treatment to all.
In addition to providing 24 hr service 365 days per year, the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department collaborates with the NSI and its supplemental security companies to maintain a strong working partnership. The NSI communicates daily with Commanders of the 7th and 9th Districts to coordinate crime prevention strategies.
Circuit Attorney’s Office
The Circuit Attorney’s Office represents the people of the State of Missouri as their chief prosecutor for state-level crimes in the City of St. Louis.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office employs over 60 attorneys, 20 investigators, 10 victim services case managers and over 30 support staff. Each year we review over 15,000 cases and prosecute approximately 3,000 felonies (crimes punishable by more than a year in prison) and 3,000 to 7,000 misdemeanors (crimes punishable by less than a year in jail).
The CAO of St. Louis works to inspire confidence in the criminal justice system by: leveraging our resources to reduce the crime rate in the City of St. Louis; educating and engaging the community in keeping their neighborhoods safe; creating respectful and credible partnerships with all constituents; attracting and retaining the top law professionals in the region. The NSI works closely with the Circuit Attorney’s office to ensure the full criminal prosecution with crimes in the CWE.
